In 1984, Anamur Museum was allocated personnel and the museum started to serve in a rented shop on Atatürk Boulevard. In the meantime, the museum tried to promote itself, and by combining the Ministry and its resources, it continued to identify cultural and natural assets in Anamur and its surroundings. In 1985 and 1986, rescue excavations were carried out in the Bozyazı (Nagidos) necropolis and the ruins of the Rig Manoi ancient city in Mamure Castle. First, the archaeological excavations of the city of Anemurium, initiated jointly by America and Canada, were later carried out by Canadian Prof. Dr. It was continued under the chairmanship of James Russell.
Since 1986, on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, under the chairmanship of the Anamur Museum Directorate, Selçuk University Faculty Member Assoc. Dr. Aydıncık (Kelenderis) excavations were started under the scientific responsibility of Levent Zoroğlu. In addition to the works from Anamur brought from Alanya and Silifke museums, the number of works brought from the Erdemli Museum, which was closed by the Ministry, and the works brought by the people of Anamur with great sensitivity, has reached 7000 today. There are administrative rooms, a library, a photography room, a conference hall on the upper floor of the museum building, and a cafeteria, ethnographic and archaeological sections, antiquities warehouses, and a laboratory on the lower floor.

Folkloric items captured throughout the historical process, from the nomadic period to the transition to settled life, are exhibited.
