Panorama 1453 History Museum: Panorama 1453 History Museum, which aims to convey to its visitors the conquest of Istanbul, which caused the end of one empire and the rise of another, with all its reality and magnificence, is the most important place that should be at the top of the travel lists of those who are curious about this great event.
Panorama 1453 History Museum
Moreover, although it highlights the conquest event with its atmosphere that makes its guests experience emotional intensity with the sounds of cannons, the shouts of Mehter's soldiers, and the marches of the Mehter Band while walking around inside, the museum reveals how advanced the Turkish art of painting is, thanks to its masterfully created main exhibition.
Information about Panorama 1453 History Museum
The construction of the museum, whose project planning began in 2003 and implementation works began in 2005, costing 5 million dollars, was completed in 2008.
The mastermind and coordination of the project, which was opened in 2009 with a ceremony attended by state officials in honor of the 555th anniversary of Istanbul's transition to Ottoman rule, was the painter Haşim Citizen.
The content of the main exhibition of the museum, designed by Özkul Eren, was prepared by Assoc. Prof. under the consultancy of Architect Hilmi Şenalp. Dr. Erhan Koyuncu and Asst. Assoc. Dr. Coşkun Yılmaz prepared it together.
The cultural facility, which is Turkey's first panoramic museum, was built in the area where the Thrace Bus Terminal used to be located. The building of the museum is positioned within the area where it is located, with the entrance facing Silivrikapı and its walls, where Ottoman soldiers first entered the city after the conquest.
Where is Panorama 1453 History Museum and How to Get There?
The cultural facility, which has the title of the world's only covered panorama museum, forms a valuable part of the Topkapı Culture Park, located within the borders of Zeytinburnu District. Since it is located in a central location, you can easily go to the museum using either land or sea transportation, depending on your location.
In my opinion, the most enjoyable method for those who prefer public transportation is to use the Kabataş-Bağcılar Tram Line, which also provides transportation to the Historical Peninsula.
The public transportation option that you will have the most options to reach Topkapı, where the museum is located, is the bus, due to the many lines passing through the region. You can also reach the cultural facility via metrobus or Aksaray metro.
If you are coming to Topkapı from the opposite side of the city, I recommend you to go to the region by taking advantage of the ferries that offer their guests a unique Bosphorus view, instead of wasting time in heavy traffic. For those who will go to the region with their own car, there are many car parks in and around Topkapı.

Panorama 1453 History Museum
Panorama 1453, designed by looking at documents from that period and taking the opinions of historical consultants, literally makes its guests relive this great event that closed one era and opened another, with its atmosphere, from the entrance to the section where the permanent exhibition is located.
In the section you will see after you enter the door of the place, 3-stage maps describing the conquest and information about the period are waiting for you. On the walls of the stairs leading down to the main hall where the permanent exhibition is located, there are reliefs belonging to the Rumelian and Anatolian Fortresses depicting the moment the ships withdraw from the land.
While creating these works, the creators of the reliefs on the stairs engraved the face of the worker who died during the construction of the museum building as a duty of loyalty. If you focus on the second person to Fatih's left, holding a sword, you can easily make out the worker's face.
After passing the entrance and staircase sections, you will come to the main part that makes the museum popular among places to visit in Istanbul. The panoramic painting here, which is the heart of the museum, was created by 8 painters between 2005 and 2008.
This magnificent work, consisting of 10,000 figure drawings, was made on a hemisphere with a diameter of 38 meters. The most important feature of the work, which covers a total area of 2350 square meters, is that it allows visitors to capture a different detail each time, thanks to its structure that plays with optical habits.
The effect of the work, which may leave you briefly confused while trying to perceive its boundaries and details, is further enhanced by the 3D models in front of it. If you do not want to miss the details of the picture, be sure to have a camera with you.

Çevre düzenlemesi ve düşünce güzel. Fakat müzeye girdikten sonra bol bol powerpoint yazısı okuyorsunuz. Müze bölümü denen yer ise badana boyası 360derece yapılmış, 3-5 eski top konulmuş basit bir salon. Galiba birisi müze yapın demiş, diğerleri de yapmış olalım diye böyle bir işe girişmişler. Ücretsiz olsa bile vakit kaybı olacağından tekrar gitmeyi kesinlikle düşünmem. Its wall is full of powerpoint slides. Inside the museum, it is not possible to see anything extraordinary. Large and well painted saloon. I don't recommend this place to visit.
